The Beauty is in the Details

Despite our harsh South Texas summers, our horticulture staff work hard to ensure the Zoo stays beautiful year round.

Flowerbeds, animal exhibits, the entire Zoo, and surrounding areas are re-planted with drought tolerant, yet spectacular vegetation.

One eye-catching landscape feature has recently been added to Zootennial Plaza. Look for the striking 12-foot aloes that flank the main staircase to Zootennial Restaurant. These magnificent aloes barberae x dichotoma 'Hercules' are in the category of trees, cactus, and succulents. Stop by and admire these beauties among the gorgeous landscaping at YOUR San Antonio Zoo!
