The fastest land animal, cheetahs can reach speeds of up to 70 mph! YOUR San Antonio Zoo is home to two beautiful cheetahs located in Rift Valley. Sumatran tiger cubs make Zoo debut!

We are beyond excited to announce the arrival of two female Sumatran tiger cubs! Born on August 3rd to first-time mom Kemala, the cubs are healthy and quite playful! They will make their debut Columbus Day weekend! Come by and say hello!

Zoo Boo and Zoobilation Ball!

Join us for the wildest, non-scary Halloween event in town, our 27th Annual Zoo Boo! Children ages 12 and younger are invited to trick-or-treat throughout the Zoo on October 30th and 31st from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Thank you, Imperial Sugar, for being our 2013 Zoo Boo candy sponsor!

Mark your calendars for the Zoo's 31st Annual Zoobilation Ball, "Where the Wild Things Are," presented by H-E-B and chaired by Karen and Todd Brockwell. This prestigious charity event will captivate its attendees on November 14th. Delight in a live and silent auction, a gourmet dinner and lots of dancing. The Zoo goes "batty" in October!

Enjoy our fun, month-long classes, “Wild Beginnings” and “Zoo Explorers.” Children ages 3-5 yrs will learn about bats, owls, moths and fireflies in a one-hour class setting. We’ll sing songs, see night creatures up-close, go on a Zoo tour, and so much more! Be sure to register soon! These classes fill quickly!

Join us for Bat Day on Saturday, October 12th from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., as we celebrate everything about BATS, with fun activities, crafts, games and more!

Join the San Antonio Zoo Director on an amazing adventure October 19 - November 3, 2014

Partake in the mysterious, calming, unpredictable, stunning wilderness, and grandeur that is Botswana and Zambia! This 11-day photographic safari is offered at a total land and internal air cost of $10,435.00 per person (based on double occupancy).   A 4-day Cape Town extension is also being offered at $1,950 per person (sharing).

Changes coming in 2014

With every new year comes changes, and the San Antonio Zoo is no exception! You spoke, and we listened! Thanks to your suggestions, there will be some upcoming changes to the Membership categories to better suit the needs of families. Make sure to check our Membership page on our website to keep up with all the updates.

One major change beginning January 1st, guests will no longer be allowed to bring food or drinks into the Zoo. We will be sure to keep you informed of other changes on our General Information page on our Zoo website.

The Zoo's 100th Anniversary is less than 100 days away, and we've got some exciting announcements! Our unique carousel is magically unfolding before our eyes! Pictured to the right are two of our carousel animals!
